Kangaroo

Kangaroo

The kangaroo is the iconic symbol of Australia and the largest member of the marsupial family. Their most distinctive features are powerful hind legs and a massive tail, enabling them to move via a unique hopping gait at speeds up to 60 km/h, with leaps reaching up to 9 meters. Female kangaroos have a pouch on their abdomen for nursing developing young. Kangaroos primarily inhabit the grasslands, deserts, and forests of Australia, feeding on grass and leaves. They are social animals that typically live in groups called "mobs." When threatened, kangaroos can deliver powerful kicks with their hind legs for defense.
