Koala
The koala is an arboreal herbivorous marsupial native to Australia, renowned worldwide for its adorable appearance. They have a furry grey body, large round ears, and a black nose, resembling a teddy bear. Koalas are tree-dwelling animals that spend almost their entire lives in eucalyptus trees, feeding exclusively on eucalyptus leaves. Due to the low nutritional value and toxic compounds in eucalyptus leaves, koalas have a very slow metabolic rate and need to sleep 18-22 hours daily to conserve energy. Koalas are primarily distributed along the eastern coast of Australia and are currently classified as a vulnerable species due to habitat loss and disease threats.
