Rat

Rat

Rats are medium-sized rodents belonging to the family Muridae, generally larger than mice. They are characterized by their long snouts, small ears, long, nearly hairless tails, and omnivorous diet. Rats are widely distributed and highly adaptable, capable of surviving in diverse environments, including urban and industrial areas. They are opportunistic omnivores, consuming almost anything. Rats are typically nocturnal and possess a high degree of social intelligence. They are extensively used in biomedical research as model organisms and are also considered pests in certain environments.
