Squid
Squid are marine cephalopod mollusks, closely related to octopuses and cuttlefish. They possess a symmetrical body, ten appendages (eight shorter arms and two longer tentacles), and a muscular structure called the mantle. Squid are found in oceans worldwide, from shallow waters to the deep sea. They are carnivores, feeding on fish, crustaceans, and krill. Squid utilize a jet propulsion system (expelling water from a siphon) for rapid movement and can change their skin color for camouflage or communication. They also serve as an important food source for many larger marine animals.
