Beetle
Beetles are insects belonging to the order Coleoptera, representing one of the most diverse animal groups on Earth. Their most defining characteristic is a pair of hardened forewings called elytra, which typically cover the membranous hindwings. Beetles are found worldwide, inhabiting virtually every terrestrial environment from forests to deserts and urban areas. Their diets are incredibly varied, including plants, other insects, decaying matter, and more. Beetles play multiple roles in ecosystems as decomposers, predators, and prey.
