Giant Panda

Giant Panda

The giant panda is a rare bear species endemic to China and a symbol of global wildlife conservation. They have a distinctive black-and-white coat: the body is primarily white, while the ears, area around the eyes, limbs, and shoulders are black. Adult giant pandas can weigh 100-115 kg. Although they belong to the order Carnivora, 99% of a giant panda's diet consists of bamboo, requiring them to consume 12-38 kg of bamboo daily to meet their energy needs. Giant pandas are solitary with strong territorial instincts, primarily inhabiting the mountainous bamboo forests of central and western China. Due to habitat fragmentation and low population numbers, they are classified as a vulnerable species.
