Heron

Heron

Herons are large wading birds belonging to the family Ardeidae. They are characterized by their long legs, long necks (often held in an S-shape), sharp bills, and common presence near water. Herons are found worldwide in wetlands, lakes, rivers, and coastal areas. They are carnivorous, primarily feeding on fish, amphibians, reptiles, insects, and small mammals. Herons typically hunt alone in shallow waters, patiently waiting for prey. They often nest in colonies but forage individually.
