Salamander

Salamander

Salamanders are amphibians belonging to the order Urodela (or Caudata). They typically have slender bodies, short limbs, and a long tail. Salamanders are found throughout the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, preferring moist environments and often inhabiting forest floors, near streams, or in caves. They are carnivorous, feeding mainly on insects, worms, snails, and other small invertebrates. Many salamanders spend part or all of their lives in water, and some species possess toxins in their skin for defense against predators.
